These cute little buttons may just be the easiest craft project ever. They use minimal supplies and only take 5 minutes to make. I must say this is my kind of craft. Packaged nicely I think these button magnets would make an excellent stocking stuffer.

You will need:
Hot Glue Gun
Magnets
Pretty Buttons
Believe it or not this project is as simple as gluing buttons to magnets! These colourful button magnets make an excellent and affordable last minute holiday gift. There is only one small thing I would do different next time… I think I would buy thinner magnets. In the picture below you can see they are very thick.

The first of the approximately 5,000 magnets necessary for construction was lowered down a special shaft at 13:00 GMT on 7 March 2005. CUTE! I think the magnets are fine, sometimes thinner magnets= never holding more than it’s self up.

I am definitely making these!! I think I might “stitch” thread through some of them first, to make them look “sewn on,” but they’re brilliant!! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!! hello,
I would have emailed this comment to you but the email link on your website didn’t seem to work…?
I am a year 10 student at Tiffin Girls School and I am
currently doing a controlled assesment peice on organising
an upcycling and recycling event. We have to include
demonstrations to inspire people to upcycle at home and I
thought your button magnets would be perfect! I was wondering if you could possibly give me permissino to use the three pictures on this page?
I love them by the way and think that they’re so simple but look really great when they’re finished!

Beautiful and easy. I have the little clear rocks and magnets that you glue pictures between the rocks and magnets- but now I think I’m going to grab all my fancy buttons and do this to them instead of the rocks. It looks much easier and faster. Thanks for sharing. Found you on C.R.A.F.T.

out of curiousity, does it have to be a hot glue gun? would regular glue work? i’ve glued buttons to lots of things with just regular glue.

hi! i am sooooo thankful that you posted this! i have a huge box of buttons lingering in my wardrobe, sitting there collecting dust, and now i think i know what to do with them! do you think i could use magnet tape on flat buttons? i’m not sure that it would hold very well but willing to give it a try and report back, just want to know if you would like to know how it worked out!

I know I’m a little late… But this is so simple and so cool. I made at least 30 of these for my teacher on the last day of school, and she thought they wereso cool! In your first and last pictures, in your “reading list”, have you actually read “The Book Theif”? It’s so good, but so sad! Anyway, love the tutorial.

These are so cute! You can buy rare earth magnets on Etsy for relatively cheap – they are super thin and small and WAY stronger than the ones you can buy at the craft store…

Here are a few unique uses that our customers have used buttons for.

Getting married?

- Save the Date Button Magnets - People think of buttons with pin backs, but all of our buttons can also be made with a refrigerator magnet backing. Instead of the standard flexible magnet, we had one of our customers want a save the date magnet that was 'gift shop quality' so it truly would be a kept as a souvenir of their wedding. They chose a 2x3 inch rectangle button magnet.

- Wedding Favors - With our different backing options you can make some really unique wedding favors for your guests. We had a customer order bottle opener back buttons and mirror back buttons. The bottle openers were for the men and the mirrors for the women. It was a great thing for the guests to take home and remember the special day.

- Name Place Buttons - We had a customer come up with a great idea of printing each guests name and the table number they were to be seated at onto buttons. They had all the buttons pinned onto a board as they entered the reception. Once everyone found their name and table number, they were able to wear the buttons as a name badge, even show their relation to the bride or groom! Such a unique and easy way for everyone to get to know each other.
